Stunning 200 Year Old Sugar Mill
Stunning 200 Year Old Sugar Mill
Built during the days of grand sugar plantations, Vervain Mill was originally a working, wind-powered mill for processing sugar cane. After falling into ruin at the end of sugar production, it was made into a home in 1980. Currently privately owned, the 3 building Vervain Mill complex has been masterfully converted it into a beautiful rental property, and turned into an exclusive getaway for discerning travelers.
This 18th century property was a cornerstone to an old sugar mill on Nevis, until the end of ‘golden sugar era’ in 1930’s.
Nevis remains one of the most unspoiled and relaxing islands in the Caribbean. Vividly green with blue skies, clean air and long, secluded beaches, Nevis has a pace of life that encourages you to stop and appreciate all the natural beauty around you.
Nevis is the smaller of the 2 islands comprising the nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean. It's known for clear waters, sandy beaches, with Georgian-style buildings and British colonial relics.
Located on the southeast side of the island, towards the 2,232 foot elevation of Mount Nevis where ocean breezes cool and refresh the landscape. Vervain Mill offers a total of 5 bedrooms, 5 private baths, beautiful furnishings, swimming pool, historic architectural artifacts, and lots of privacy.
The first of three levels includes two large bedrooms – one with a queen size bed and one with king bed. Each has French doors opening to the lawn and pool, and each has a private bath. The lower cottage and boiler house has one queen size bed, private bath including outside shower and second kitchen.
The stone-walled main floor of the 'tower', includes the kitchen and indoor living and eating areas, opens onto a dramatic wraparound terrace with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and Mt. Nevis, part of the Federation of Saint Kitts West Indies. The third floor features queen size bed, and private bathroom
The large, spacious terrace includes sitting areas covered by flying canopies that provide shade with no obstruction of view.

Nearby, Gingerland Parish is a popular village. The hiking is wonderful in Nevis, with access to Waterfalls Trails.
The charm of Nevis is her people who are gracious and welcoming. English is the official native language, and Creole is a regional dialect.
Experience the magnificent views from Lord Nelson’s lookout on Saddle Hill, explore other old ruins, or enjoy the many lovely under-populated beaches. Horseback riding, snorkeling, diving, and deep-sea fishing are available.
To the East and Southeast from Vervain Mill’s gently sloping hillside setting, the island of Montserrat with its active volcano. On a very clear day, to the East is Antigua and Barbuda.
Sunrises over the Atlantic are beautiful, as are moonrises with nearly daylight reflections on the water. To the south on Nevis, Saddle Hill where Lord Horatio Nelson kept a lookout for enemy ships. Looking up the hill, Mount Nevis rises gracefully with a few villas dotting the hillside.
